Mt. Hood, Oregon The Timberline project was broken into three phases. The First phase was an investigative phase. The Second phase included temporary stabilization, installation of wire mesh cables around the two fireplace room chimneys and the head house chimney, and a temporary 70-foot high steel chimney for the boiler. The Third and final phase of this project included dismantling the boiler chimney, stone-by-stone, cataloging the stones, and then reconstructing the chimney.
All of the chimneys contain multiple flues. The boiler chimney has a
noise problem that was reflected into other flues. This noise was
diminished by installing a stainless steel baffle at the top of the
chimney that also acted as a form for the formed-in-place concrete chimney
cover.
